This week, in another exciting edition of Novelty-ness, we’re talking about our favorite characters in our own work.
I’d have a tough time picking myself, which is why I made sure I didn’t have to.
That’s right.
This week I cheated.
SO to kick this week off extra special-style, I have a totally made of awesome guest blogger coming in to chat with us. Her name is Kate Pearce and she writes very naughty books. I have some. They are made of awesome, just like Kate.
But enough from me. On to Kate!
————————

My favorite character would have to be Lord Valentin Sokorvsky from Simply Sexual the first of my Regency-set erotic romances from Kensington Aphrodisia. Valentin appeared in my dreams one morning and just haunted me until I could get around to writing his book.
First off, he’s not your average chatty, humorous Regency Rake. He’s difficult, often hard to understand and so complex that I still don’t think I know him and he’s turned up in several of my books now. His best friend and fellow captive in the Turkish brothel from which they were rescued at the age of eighteen, Peter Howard, is the man most of my readers love.
But secretly, I still love Valentin. He’s contrary, he’s incredibly sexy and almost too beautiful to be a man but he still won’t admit to the complexity of his sexuality, his need for his wife Sara and his complicated relationship with Peter.
I wish I could show you a picture of him, but I’ve never found one good enough. If I do, I’ll be sure to post it on my website ☺
Last year when I was writing the second of the ‘Simply’ books I heard an old Madonna song, “To have and not to hold” and I realized it must be exactly how Peter and Sara felt about Valentin-and how I felt about him myself . Here’s a bit of it.
To have and not to hold
So hot, yet so cold
My heart is in your hand
And yet you never stand
Close enough for me to have my way
To love but not to keep
To laugh, not to weep
Your eyes, they go right through
And yet you never do
Anything to make me want to stay
Chorus:
Like a moth to a flame
Only I am to blame
Ba ba da ba ba ba
What can I do?
Ba ba da ba ba ba
I go straight to you
Ba ba da ba ba ba
I’ve been told
You’re to have, not to hold
To look but not to see
To kiss but never be
The object of your desire
I’m walking on a wire
And there’s no one at all
To break my fall .”
Perfect. I couldn’t have said it better myself ☺

You all HAVE to read “Simply Sexual”. I’m afraid I still love Peter more, but Valentin is a complex, angsty character who is HOT HOT HOT. I lurrrrve him. Not as much as Peter. And Abby is KICK ASS in “Simply Sinful”.
Oh hell. Just buy them both. And the next two coming out next year. I MUST HAVE THEM.
Kate, I’m drooling. It’s so bad when I drool.

Yeah, her drool gets on people and stuff.
I have the books. And one of her EC books. Mine, mine, mine!

A pleasure to drop in and share my love for Valentin!
Btw-Drooling is expected as is finding your nearest and dearest and sharing your appreciation for what you read in the approved manner.
I get those from fan emails
But please-no details
