No not like that! Well with the proper incentive… No seriously. I’m a blog failure. *hangs head in shame* Here’s my nightly Jen phone call.

J: You suck.
L: No I don’t! Who told that lie?
J: Really? When was the last time you posted on Novelty Girls?
L: Uh…
J: See?!
L: Well, you go post for me.
J: Noooo. I wasn’t asked.
L: thinking, that wasn’t asking?
L: Ok, ok, gimme a topic.

I won’t go into the degeneration of the topic from there, but those of y’all who know both of us can only imagine. :D
So here I am on Thursday night with absolutely no ideas for post. Maybe Dayna will entertain us with baby stories tomorrow.

*this post brought to you by Jen, Loribelle, and entirely too much wine*

I was reading an interview with an author earlier, and I got to thinking… many of us bust our butts promoting, holding contests, doing chats, trying to sell our books. I think virtually all of us have a blog (although some like to gather dust… *coughs and glances at the dust bunnies on hers*). We talk about our books, our friends’ projects, the industry, and almost anything writing-related. But what about our non-writing lives?

Personally, I have more than one blog. I have Dust Bunny Central my writing blog, and I have a personal LiveJournal (it’s possible the two may end up combined due to fuckwittery on the part of new LJ ownership, but we’ll see) with a “this is my personal space, and if you don’t like reading about the following, you’re better off not reading it” disclaimer. I don’t hide that I’m a goth, bisexual, kinky, pagan, polyamorous, and sometimes a royal bitch. This is me, and I make no bones about that. ;)

I know that other writers aren’t nearly as comfortable being open about their personal lives. Some are afraid that if they let the “inner bitch” out, they’ll lose readers. Others are afraid of giving too much information for security reasons (which is a valid concern, as online and real life stalkers do exist). Still others think that it’s nobody’s business what their real life is like.

As a reader, I like glimpses into the real lives and personalities of authors I like. I’m an “anything goes” kind of girl. You want to talk about your personal sex life? OK, whatever. Your kids? Same deal. Pets? Aww! Kitten/puppy pics. :D I like to have an idea of the person behind the books, but maybe I’m just a weird fangirl that way. ;)

Though, there have been at least two authors that I refuse to buy because they are consistently catty bitches who voice their opinions loudly in the most offensive way possible. I really don’t mind when writers share their personal opinions, but if you can’t do it without insulting everybody who disagrees with you, then you really should keep your mouth shut. Then again, those writers aren’t even talking about their personal lives – that’s just talking about writing!

Where do you fall on the spectrum? Do you like to share information about your personal life, or do you prefer to keep it separate from your writing life?

I never thought I would do a book trailer, but I have to admit…they are so much fun! Finding just the right pictures to bring your characters to life, the right music to represent your story, writing the movie trailer script…plus you know how I am about Youtube. :)
Luckily I have talented friends…*cough* beth *cough*…since I dont have the skillz needed to make my video ideas reality. And now, Crystal Jordan has a new video as well!!

She and I are going to be Samhain Release Twins on April 22nd- Her book, Treasured, about a sexy, dirty pirate-and Regina in the Sun, the first book in my Children of the Goddess series. In honor of that-here are our videos.

If any of you have favorite author trailers or trailers of your own, please post the links!

In the last few weeks a lot of things have happened that I could never have imagined only a few years ago.
-My first book released
-Some people seemed to like it
-I had a houseful of tipsy people reading my dirty sexcerpts aloud and having a blast-and I didnt die of humiliation (well, only a little)

Its hard to come out of the haze of it all. I have edits to do and another book to finish and a book aimed at NY pubs to start-not to mention promotion for my April releases. All this tension and build up, people warned me, but I had to realize for myself that this isnt the end. It is a continuous ride of ups and downs and loopty loops. If I want to be on the rollercoaster for the long haul, I have to settle in, tighten my seat belt and get comfortable.
But I have to admit a feeling of relief. After a year and a half of continuous writing and a husband who couldnt be more supportive working his butt off to pay for everything so I could follow this dream where it led. It feels good to finally be officially out there in the world. Published.
Now I just have to keep improving, keep moving forward and hopefully continue to be moderately entertaining. :)

If babies ruled the world…

Transportation would be a much tighter fit.

But aircraft carriers would have a much longer runway.

There would be no training wheels.

Food would be packaged a bit differently.

And the brewskies would be delivered and ready-to-drink.
