I was going to post about New Year’s but frankly I’m already sick of it lol. So I found an old draft I never got around to posting. ![]()
I love Home and Garden Television. Probably because I’m too obsessed with my house. We bought it almost ten years ago and we’ve done alot. Built patios, ripped out all the carpet and put in wood and tile, replaced light and plumbing fixtures, painted. Omg have I painted. So I love HGTV because they give me great ideas. But…
You knew there was a but right? I watch all these remodeling shows, all these stage to sell shows and there are NO BOOKS!! I’m always surprised and dismayed and a little disgusted (when they get to the high end houses cuz hey, I understand about budgets). Are there really that few of us that read? That enjoy owning books? Anna Quindlen said she hoped her kids idea of decorating was bookshelves (or something to that effect) and I agree. Books are necessary. Books are life. I cannot imagine living without books. Ever.
So is your house like mine and over run with books? Or are you *gasp* one of those people that doesn’t live among chaos?

This is so funny that you’re talking about bookshelves. I put a new one in like…two days ago. LOL But I know what you mean, I couldn’t imagine a house without built in shelves or a bookshelf. Couldn’t see it! Even at my parents house, when I moved out of my old room she turned it into her sewing room / library. Before that, she had all her books in the closet in the hallway. I just can’t see me in a house with books and no where to put them.

My husband’s only real complaint about how many book’s I own is that they are everywhere. In the bathrooms, on the nightstand, in the backseat of the car, on the dining room table, in boxes in the garage, and some actually on the bookcases.
He has never said a word about the money I spend on e-books, because he never has to see them. The best of both worlds. I am allowed to buy and read as much as I want, and he doesn’t trip over them.
