I love Christmas movies.
I do. Every cheesy Hallmark moment. Just love them.
Miracle on 34th street-the original with Natalie Wood and Maureen O’Hara.
White Christmas with Crosby and Kaye.
I loved It’s a Wonderful Life so much that my mother got me one of the movie posters one year and I had it framed and hanging on my bedroom wall forever.
Why? Well you may think its a stretch-but its the same reason I like Sports movies and End of the World sagas (meteor, supervolcano etc)….In all three you see people coming together, the best of the human spirit in spite of all odds.
George Bailey learns that his life was important, that what he did affected his entire town-that he made a positive difference in so many lives.
This man who spent his life wishing he could travel, leave his little town and get out of that Savings and Loan…who thought his life was just passing him by–realized that everything happens for a reason–and that his life had been pretty darn-well-wonderful. ![]()
And its like that with other Christmas movies as well. Its about believing in magic-remembering what is truly important. It makes me all soft and fuzzy inside.
I know, I know-I’m corny. A soft touch. A mushpot.
I wish it were Christmas all year round.
A part from the traffic around the mall…and the stampedes toward the cool toys…and the really crazy relatives. ![]()
Other than that LOL
