In our house, the holidays are pretty crazy. It begins with Halloween, a candy infested costume searching week of insanity. Add to it that we’re trying to help my mom with some moving and organizing (five hours south of us) you can see that we’re a little nuts.
After Halloween comes the dirt faced okie kid’s birthdays. Born 362 days apart, they have to have separate birthdays and yet, together. Oh, and on November 13th is the Mother In Law’s birthday too (but that just involves going out to breakfast).
Thanksgiving is next. This year, though, I may get to travel to Sacramento and meet up with one of The Novelty Girls for some face time together.
Then my nieces birthday in December, the usual Christmas insanity involving tree searching, WAY overspending and eating too much and then New Years.
I’m tired just thinking about it!!!
Somewhere in there I have to finish my sequels to “Heart Of The Storm” and edit the two erotic pieces I have coming out next year. Have I made you groan?
But here’s the thing. I LOVE this time of year. I love the insanity of it. I adore the decorations and the music and the weather. So, though I’m watching the calendar tick down and wondering if I’ll be able to stay sane this season, I’m also excited.
I’ve already watched “A Christmas Story” twice. Does that mean I’m a nutcase? If I am, don’t tell me.
How about you guys? Are you ready for the race to the end of the year? On your marks….get set…………

Same here. We don’t get much into Halloween, but my sister’s birthday is Oct. 25th, mine is Nov. 13th, then Thanksgiving, my Uncle’s birthday the 29th, and my nephew’s birthday the 30th. My best friend’s birthday is the 3rd, WH’s is the 9th, then Christmas and New Years. For Christmas, I usually bake pies- berry pies- for all our friends and neighbors. I spend a lot of time in late December prone in a pile of flour, crying. I love it, though. What it really means is that Christmas has grown from a spectator sport into something I can give to others, and that’s nice. Plus? All that food. Think about it- if we weren’t so busy, how much more weight would we put on between Thanksgiving and New Year’s? On second thought, maybe we shouldn’t think about that!

I sympathize and I empathize. I love it too–even though it is crazy nuts.
DD’s bday is Nov. 5, though she requires a good week of celebrations. DS’s bday is two days after Christmas–poor kid.
The cat loves the tree. She doesn’t play with the decor…but she insists on sleeping in the windowsill behind the tree, only at Chrismsastime…and then as soon as she gets into REM sleep, she falls off the sill and into the tree. Every freakin year. Several times a day. Weirdo.

I love the holidays. Carols, hot toddies and tinsel. Coolest weather but the warmest season.
I’m a sucker for the sappy

I posted this weekend on my blog about seasons. I love them! and this time of year especially. Holidays for us starts end of sept with my birthday and runs all the way to end of Jan with my youngest’s.
I’m trying to take each holiday as it comes and stay in the moment. Enjoy each birthday, Halloween, not get distracted by Christmas. Although we celebrate Advent and then the 12 days of Christmas at our house so that takes a lot of pressure of the on big day thing, but I can’t wait for all of it!

See I LOVE Christmas but that doesn’t stop my complaining. LOL.
And Opilia I’m not discussing the “D” word. Not. Discussing. It.
Thanks Toni Sue. I’m so relieved that my insanity isn’t temporary.
