Scatterbrained

By Rowan Larke | September 21, 2007

ok…without the pregnancy hormones I”m not the most organised of people, but it’s actually getting worse. I had to ask Crystal to set up a reminder for me on my post-days here at TNG. I should’ve asked her to include a topic. *sigh*

However, I realised I can use this to my advantage.

Today, I have no post, I have a request.

Give me your BEST organisational tip.
Whether it’s for paperwork (like the contracts I mailed *cof*three weeks late*cof* yesterday) or a handy way to keep kids mittens from going awol when they undress in the winter (that doesn’t involve strings to the cuffs of their coats) or how to organise WIPs and keep names and basic plotlines straight…well, pretty much anything. I need it all!

Just because I know this is completely against the usual TNG routine, I’m going to give away a copy of either Go Between or Wings of Love to one random Tipper. :)

Heck, no. I have enough trouble coming up with my OWN topics.

I always use list-making to keep me organized. If I think of it, it goes on the list with a lil check box so I can tell myself I did it. I have been known to pay bills twice because I didn’t check it off the list. Oops.

I am really bad at organization. This is why I surround myself with awesome, slightly anal people.
My Libra husband who finds my glasses, my Libra sister who tells me I need to show up somewhere 3 hours early cause she knows I’ll be late, and Crystal-who tells me when and how to do eet as far as writing subbing etc. LOL
So I’ll be very interested in these tips…I need them too. :)

I suck at organising. Period. We’re talking major vacuum-type sucking, too.

The one thing that’s helped me to any extent is the huge-ass whiteboard that’s hung on the office divider at the right-hand side of my desk. If I get up to do anything, I look at it. Which reminds me of the “Oh shit!!!” things I need to do. (Way too many of them. )

Otherwise, you’re on your own. :P I’m ADD; by definition, that is a perpetual scatterbrain.

Muhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaw! You’re not asking ME are you? That’s hilarious.
I have sticky notes. I don’t always remember to look at them, but I have them.

Get a student planner–organized by school year, not this silly January to January stuff. The best student planners have a monthly calendar (look forward to the days you have off work! Yay!) and then a week-by-week area for insane levels of list-taking.

I made the transition from scatterbrain to OCD headcase with my planner. It involved rewarding myself with chocolate whenever I managed to complete my To-Do List.
