In Between

I realized when I woke from finishing my last book that I needed to get up and do some chores around the house. Dust those out of reach places that people rarely get to. Organize things that kept piling up, do things I kept putting off. A year of focusing on word count and storyline and character development had taken its toll.

In one way I am very lucky. This is my day job. On the other hand if you dont let a little life in, a little healthy distraction…well…that’s not good either.
So, I’ve taken a few days off. To decide what to focus on next, and to spend a little time just being me, instead of the neurotic, email watching computer zombie I’ve become. Just a few days. And its been wonderful. Even the dust. It helped me put a lot of things into perspective.

What do you do to recharge your batteries in between writing projects? Read? Putt Putt Golf?

I read, knit, hike, and go camping with my family.

Recharge?? What’s this thing you speak of?? ;) Seriously, between books I tend to just veg. Eventually I get cranky and have to start a new book lol.

I do like to read, R.G. But I’ll catch up on TV shows, too. Somehow I always end up back at the computer. Not necessarily to write but sometimes to just surf or do a critique at my yahoogroup…

I did quit writing once for almost 2 weeks… Ouch, it hurt to get back into it. I’m not saying it didn’t help, but I don’t think I’ll do that again, though.

Read, watch DVDs, drag friends out to dinner. Veg out.

But it’s rare for me to take more than a day or two off of writing unless I’m on vacation somewhere. (Like with family who’d put a boot in my ass if I didn’t pay attention to them. Oh, how I love the holidays.)

There’s a between? What is this strange thing of which you speak?
I’ll bet it’s in the fourth dimension or something.
