Where did she come from?

I started writing a new WIP a few days ago. And from its inception, it’s felt different from my previous three. The Hero came to me first for one. I had a very clear visual of him right away, {and oh what a visual!} before I knew what his story would be. Usually I’m more female focused. Part me/part someone I know/part someone I’d like to be etc. But this was different as well. And its a definite challenge.

My heroine is a total surprise. Where did she come from? She’s broken and isolated and she has a hard time trusting people. She’d rather hang out with machines…computers, broken down trucks etc than people. Anyone who knows me knows
1}I am technologically challenged-I can barely handle my blog account without Crystal-my wonderful CP’s help.
2}I like people :) So its not as if we would meet at the grocery store and be fast friends. And yet she is pouring out onto the page-shocking me at every turn. Hopefully I can do her justice. And give her that HEA she deserves.

So has that ever happened to anyone? A character that is so foreign to you emotionally/personality-wise that it surprises you?

….On a wonderful but different note…Dayna Hart, Novelty Girl and one of my favorite authors, has a book out with Samhain today. Go Between is amazing, and I think everyone is going to go wild for this first book of the series! Yay Dayna!!

I had an “exterminator” who was supposed be be a serial killer/hit man…yet when I started writing the story, he ended up being Mr. Nice Guy and the hero of the day! And my serial killer story was shot to heck.
    SNORT….
    The NERVE of him!

Yep, I can relate. I got one for an erotic romance who had a fetish that I did NOT understand at all. She’s nattering in my head and I just have no idea why she’s talking to me.
But I wrote the story and it’s in edits with The Wild Rose Press.
    Go figure.

I really hate it when I get a main character that’s very different from me. I’m always left wondering if I can do him/her justice. But ya know, it always works out. ;) Good luck with the new story!

Well, I’ve been told that I write villains very well…I don’t consider myself to be evil (stop laughing), but they just come out onto the paper so…well, evil. I guess they stem from pent up agression or something. So, maybe foreign characters are given justice when we write them by accessing our inner psyche or repressed parts of ourselves…or maybe I’m just babbling and don’t know what the heck I’m saying. Either one is a valid option in my case! :)
