Seriously, those ladies are not allowed. To. Post. Anymore!! This is all their fault.
So I was going right along. Working on the BIG revision and a couple smaller things. Word count is going very nicely since I got home from Dallas. Two new stories submitted. Two synos written. Everything on the goal list going along nicely, thankyouverymuch! I have my last projects of the year plotted out and ready to go. No room for improv here, ya hear? There isn’t any time. So what did I do today?? Started something for the Brava contest. It just hit me and I knew I had to write it down before I lost it. Before I know it, I had ten pages. That word count limit is 750 btw. I’m way over. So now I have to decide if I’m going to finish this story or blow it off. Enter or blow it off. Did I mention it’s a werewolf?? Did y’all hear in Dallas that werewolf stories are so passe, dude. I swore off werewolves when I finished the Lunar Mates series (nevermind I’ve done two since then!) so if you’re waiting for a fifth, don’t hold your breath honey.
But this story…ugh. It’s grabbed me, it really has. I want it to stay buried in my subconcious where it belongs while I finish other stuff but I have a bad feeling it’s not going to let me. Damn.
So what do you do? Finish what you have going or go with the next shiny new idea? That isn’t a way to finish anything, to get published imo but I find I’m sucked in anyway. Oh the new book needs a name. I like Taming the Wolf or To Tame a Wolf but seems like those titles are pretty common.
Yeah. I obviously have a little werewolf addiction.

I love werewolves too….I have a little tale called “The Werewolf Whisperer” coming out in September from StarDust….
My vote…write the book, to hell with what they had to say in Dallas…werewolves are sexy. Period.

LMAO!!!! Weren’t we just talking about ways we avoid the BOOK THAT WILL NOT DIE?
I guess you found another way. LOL.

What would I do? I’d write it while I was still excited by it. But that’s just me. Also, hey, don’t believe all that “werewolves are passe” BS. If the story is good, they’d buy anything. (IMHO) And the story, I’m sure, is quite good if you’re this hopped up about it. Write the thing!

ACtually, Lori, final wordcount for the Brava is 20-30K, and you just sub your favorite 750 words for the judging…
Not that I’m playing devil’s advocate or anything…
I have an idea for one, too, only it involves a vampire, which I’ve sworn I won’t write. I mean…who needs another vamire book?! And yet…this one would be different…(isn’t that what everyone who writes a vampire book says?!)

I should have put a little *note the sarcasm* insert on that blog lol. Sorry ladies.
Yes, werewolves are sexy and I love them and all the usual disclaimers lol.
Jen, I know!! I saw on your thread on Divas you’re procrastinating on yours too lol!
Dayna, lol just don’t go there honey. Like I could write the 750 words and leave it at that?? If you read through the long post on that board it says final count should be 25-30k, but that’s NY count. So 100 pages plus is good. But that’s 100 pages I should be doing on Until Death or Saving Grace. Instead, I’m writing a new werewolf.

I love me some werewolves

Do the contest. And both those titles are taken by other romance novels according to Amazon…so you’ll need another.
And they said at RWA that it needed to be a unique spin on werewolves. I have faith that you can do that.

Do the contest Lori! I’m doing it, I couldn’t resist. And if the story that is calling to you a werewolf story then by all means, write it!!!
And word count is actual computer word count, not NY count. I read that somewhere. Maybe that’ll make you feel better. Or not. LOL

*sigh* I’m doing it Karen. Cause I’m a glutton for punishment lol.
From what I gathered, the 750 word entry is computer count and the final word count is NY count. So that works. Cramming everything I want into 750 words is going to be difficult tho lol.

Yep..include me too. I’m entering. I know what story I’m entering…just don’t know what 750 words I’m going to use.
Go ahead and write it! Dooooiiiitt!!!
