So, I’ve spent the week in promotion-hell. No, not actually doing it…reading about it. And learning I have a lot to learn. And a lot to do. I’ve got a plan, at least, but I have no idea how long it’ll take to get everything organized. Figuring out what I like to do v. what I should do is a whole other thing, too. My son suggested a TV commercial, which seemed rather ridiculous…but those book trailers are all the rage right now…at least with authors.
My eyeballs actually hurt from the sheer amount of stuff I’ve read this week.
As a result, this week’s post is short and to the point:
What promo works on you? What author do you remember because of a promo item or contest?

Dayna,
I agree- promotion is hell. There are so many options for writers to promote their works. I think bookmarks are especially effective-I’ve kept every bookmark I’ve received from an author, and if it’s well-designed, it can influence me when it comes time to visit Borders again.

I think I’ve finally caught up on all that reading you mention. And I still don’t have a clue what actually works and doesn’t work lol! I mostly buy based on recomendations from friends or authors on my auto-buy list. I don’t pay much attention to contests and stuff.

That loop is insane, but I’ve learned a ton! Sara, that’s great feedback to get from a reader!
