Yes, I am soooo stealing ideas here. I am a sucker for a good love story…a good story period. There have been many a nights where I’ve sent the wonderful hubby “shaking his head” from the room because I’m crying over what I’m watching on TV. His comment (muttering mind you), “How can a woman so mean cry at the drop of a dime?” - I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about. I am not mean! I swear! But he loves me and takes care of me anyway. Gotta love him!
Anyway, back to the stealing. Movies! I love movies. I can watch the same movies over and over and over again…especially if there’s a good love story in it. So today, I’m going to share my favorites.
Oh, and this is after I go through my husband’s expansive…and I do mean expansive DVD collection. I will not embarrass him by telling you exactly how many that is…but, it’s over 500. Shhh…don’t tell him I said anything. OK? He has his movies and I have my books…so we’re even.
Brown Sugar w/ Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan (it’s urban, but good)
Count of Monte Cristo w/ Jim Caviezel (revenge love)
Diary of A Mad Black Woman w/Shemar Moore and Kimberly Elise (ok - I’ll watch anything with Shemar Moore in it - it’s an obsession - but this is a good movie)
Ever After w/Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott (Cinderella - how can you not love it)
Fools Rush In w/Matthew Perry and Selma Hayak
Hitch w/Wil Smith and Eva Mendes
Jason’s Lyric w/Allen Payne and Jada Pinkett (another urban one - but good)
Maid In Manhattan w/Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes (oh, I can’t wait to see the next Harry Potter movie - sorry, I digress)
The Matrix Movies w/Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss
Notting Hill w/Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves w/Kevin Costner and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonia (when he tells her “I’d die for you” at the end - magic, just magic)
The Saint w/Val Kilmer and Elisabeth Shue
Save The Last Dance w/Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Harris (interracial teen love)
Sleepless In Seattle w/Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan
Something New w/Sanaa Lathan and Simon Baker (interracial adult love)
Somethings Gotta Give w/Jack Nicholson and Diana Keaton (old love - plus, it’s Jack)
Star Trek-TNG Movies (Imzadi - Troi and Will - they finally get married in the last movie)
The Thomas Crown Affair w/Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo (when they got buck-naked going up those stairs - phew - talk about hot monkey love)
Troy w/Brad Pitt (two love stories for the price of one - plus Brad’s naked ass)
Two Weeks Notice w/Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant
The Wedding Planner w/Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey
What Women Want w/Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt
You’ve Got Mail w/Tom and Meg again
The Lake House w/Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.
Phew - didn’t I tell you the collection was extensive, and by the way - did you notice that they’re in alphabetical order. Yep, he sure does. It’s an obsession I tell ya! (except The Lake House - because it hasn’t been “shelved” yet. LOL
So, all these movies are not “true” love story movies, but the relationship in the movies are great. Great writing indeed!
Recommendation - Daddy’s Little Girl - A Tyler Perry Movie is out now! I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve heard it’s good and it does have a love story in it.
Do you have any favorites that I didn’t mention. Please share! Have a great weekend!!!

Hmm. My favorite movie is Love Actually a great movie that shows all aspects of love. And then Sabrina (The new one! I know that makes me weird.) And then French Kiss.
I think those are most of my fave’s. I agree with you on Robin Hood though. Yuuuumm.
