Why I hate to love the Internet

By Rowan Larke | January 19, 2007

I’ve gone without the internet before in my life. I mean, I didn’t even know it existed until I was 17. So, I’ve still been without it for longer than I’ve been with it. And yet…when it went down for the billionth time this week, for 48 entire hours…I was at a loss.

I went to look up information for a soon-to-be work in progress…couldn’t do it. I went to blog, couldn’t. I went to find my internet radio station, and nope, couldn’t do that, either. I’ve grown reliant.

Which should probably upset me more than it does. But this addiction, and my one for coffee, are probably two things that keep me sane when nothing else works.

But, since the technician isn’t coming for another four days, and the ‘net may go down a few times between now and then…what did we do Before The Internet?

I would go mad without my net. I salute your bravery.
