Summertime, and the living is easy…

By Sara Dennis | January 17, 2007

Okay, it’s not summertime. That was wishful thinking on my part. It’s been cold here (cold for someone who’s used to California, okay?) and I’d like it to be warmer.

But that made me wonder. Does anyone else have a writing “season”? I know lots of people don’t like to write in the spring and summer times because the weather’s nice, there are things to do, the family can get time off to take vacation.

Those of you with changing leaves may like to go driving in the fall.

Winter can lead to moody blues and rob us of writing enthusiasm, so I’m curious. Do you have a season that’s better or worse for writing?

Or reading! Do you prefer curling up with a blanket and a stack of books in the winter? Or packing bags and a lunch and a towel and heading to the beach?

I like winter reading. Summer’s good for writing for me usually, as I’m not a big fan of the heat and after a few disasters at the beach, I don’t trust the water so much.

What about you?

I love to write in fall and winter. I’m going to be indoors anyway, and I love being snuggled up on my easy chair with my lap top.
