Some of you may know that I’m a librarian for my day job. This is probably of no real interest to you except that with librarianship comes conferences. I’m facing a dilemma about conferences this year.
There are two national conferences for me. One for libraries and one for writers. The writerly one is RWA (Romance Writers of America) and the library one is ALA (American Library Association). The problem? They fall reaaaaaaally close to each other this year and I’m not sure I’ll be allowed time off to go to BOTH of them.
And here’s the issue then. Which is more important to me? Which will help me with my career(s) the most? Frankly, I have no fricking clue, but I need to get one pretty quick here because registration is right around the corner. And let’s be real, it’s not just a matter of time off, it’s a matter of finances. Two national conferences back to back is damn expensive.
Now, I have the option of going to different, smaller, conferences in both of these areas (writer and librarian), but would they be as good for me? As helpful? I just don’t know.
Anyone got a get-rich-quick scheme so I can go to both conferences? I’d so love any information available on that!
Until next week!

Your are such a talented writer! The world of readers needs you. And thus the RWA Nationals conference needs you, and you need them….
PUHLEASE!!! Don’t make me beg *sniffl* A conference without Crystal is like a house without a door…or something.

One conference with you and you’re begging. Does this mean I give good conference?
And then there’s always the price-tag to consider

Sometimes smaller conferences can be good—can you do one big one and one small one? Maybe do RWA and a small conf for work? I guess it kinda depends on what you want to get out of them?

RWA of course! I’d look into smaller (closer) conferences too. Never know what you might find.
