So it’s the day after Christmas! How did everyone do? With diets, family, re-gifting (did I say that?) deadlines… we all had our hurdles.
I think I’m fairly relieved it’s over. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love the holiday. Like love-them-I-want-to-marry-them type of giddiness over them. But it’s also a time to put ‘reality’ on hold. Like diets? Diets become about as valid as the weight on my driver’s license. Writing? Sure I get in some, but I also do a lot less because I’ve got parties, family occasions, shopping, Christmas movies to watch.
And then don’t even get me started on the toys. The toys you bought for your kid that you thought would be a good idea. I nearly gave myself a heart attack–and taught my kid some choice words–while trying to put together a Disney vanity table this morning. (Never again, all toys must come assembled!!!)
So I’m excited to put away the decorations and switch back to country music (I’ve been listening to the same Xmas cd for a month now!) Soon the cookies and endless supply of candy will be gone. And Curves will again be on my horizon. And I’ll throw myself back into my writing with great enthusiasm. Not that I haven’t been writing, I have. But come on, the holidays are a great reason to procrastinate and blow diets. But I’m not telling you anything you didn’t already know.
I’m looking forward to the New Year and a new set of goals. A new beginning. My biggest goal for next year (besides to lose my fat ass): New York, baby. Maybe it won’t happen, but it won’t be because I didn’t try. Seriously, I’m writing a new single title book and I’m sending it out. I mean OUT. I won’t do my usual. Send to one agent and then wait for a rejection, send it to another one, wait…etc. No, I’m going to send it out to multiple agents and see who nibbles. What kind of interest it generates. Yeah. Okay. So hold me to it.
So how was your holiday? And are you excited about the upcoming New Year? What are your goals? Or the major one? ![]()

Besides lose the fat ass? LOL I’d like to get 3 proposals done this spring. that’s about as far ahead as I can look.

I blew my diet SEVERAL times this holiday season. *sigh* back to the no carb grindstone.
My goal this year is pretty ambitious. I want to write a 90-150K book and get an agent. That’s the first step. I want a big house, so I’m going to get an agent to make that happen.
In between writing “the big one”, I want to write and sub three or four shorts for the two publishers I’m already with.
I’ll hold you to yours, chica. You have to harrass me about mine. LOL.

I had a great holiday. Still one more day for me because today is my birthday.
I’m planning a whole new start for 2007 with diets, writing, and lots of schedules!

I never say DIET over the holidays, but as soon as they’re over, I’m trying to figure out how to get rid of all the left over cookies and candy and be a good girl again.
And there’s nothing like those three little words that strike fear in the heart of every parent: Some Assembly Required. Aaaaaghh!

I will be holding you to it. I will ride your not-that-fat-you-liar ass until you sell to New York! Go baby, go!

Your blog kinda sounds like mine I wrote today! I’m glad the holidays are done too…
Major goals? I try not to list too many for fear of failing at all of them but yes. New York would be awfully nice.
And losing MY fat ass would be good too.
I’ll help hold you to your goals! Remember I’m very good at crossing my fingers for luck when you send those subs out.

Goals? Man, my butt is still kicked from Christmas, who has the brain power to figure out goals lol!?
Lessee, lose 20-25 lbs. I lost 5 (woohoo!) then gained it back over the holiday (boo hiss!). Continue on the path to publication. I have a few things due in the early part of the year, a series I’d love to sell to Samhain, and of course the ever elusive NY contract lol.
Right now I’ll just be thrilled to death if I can make my current deadlines much less add new stuff lol!
