I’m my own star!

By Loribelle Hunt | December 14, 2006

After Shelli’s post the other day about putting people we don’t like in our books, I got to thinking about putting people I do like in my books. Especially me. Memememe. It’s all about me, ya know? ;)

Anyway, it does make for a good topic lol. I get asked all the time if that’s me in my books. This is usually connected with that rubber-necking, we-all-love-a-tragedy-in-progress gleam in the asker’s eye. Um, not exactly.

The characters are definitely not me. Some of their stuff is me though. I have a little tiny addiction to French Vanilla Capuccino and you’ll find it in most of my books. I tend to go running when I’m working through a problem and many of my heroines share that trait. I firmly believe clean is over rated and my characters generally agree. There are other little personal habits that end up scattered through my work.

I don’t stop with just me though. Oh no. Everyone’s a victim in my little personality snatching here. Ahem. I have a book or two Mom really doesn’t need to read. Can I help it if she’s anal and it makes a good character? And my poor husband. Well let’s just not go there shall we?

I’m sure we all probably do this though. Put little pieces of ourselves and our families and friends in our books. In mine, keep an eye for capuccino and running and slobs. What about yours? What little personal habits or likes of your own end up in your stories?

I always seem to put coffee in my books. You can tell I’m an addict.
