Indecisiveness

By Lyric James | September 16, 2006

That*s what I was struggling with all last week. What the heck do I want to work on next? A story that is. Which one? There are so many brewing around in my head that I*m trying to figure out which one I want to focus on first and finish. And it gets even worse(which shouldn*t be because a writer always needs new ideas) when another one, something totally different than you*ve ever worked on before, something more personal, starts to cram itself inside your already filled to the brim head.

Usually when that happens I make these plans to work on this one, then work on that one…all at the same time. And end up overwhelmed and not working on anything. I need a plan. Something that I*ll stick with and not let anything else get in the way. Do I sound confusing? Yup. Because I was confused.

BUT I think I came up with a solution last night. Does this ever happen to you as a writer? Do you ever have so many ideas in your head that you don*t know what to do next? How do you resolve these problems? How do you make yourself only stick to one story at a time without driving yourself crazy?

Happy Saturday and don*t forget to enter the Novelty Girls contest!!

I have that happen all the time. I tend to focus on what that I’ve committed to, or if I’m writing one for an upcoming holiday or something.

The problem I have is to what to do first between things for the kids, the needs of hubby, things to do around the house and just some time for myself.

I think you have to just take a few minutes to decided what is the more important and then act on it.
