We interupt your regularly scheduled writing blog to talk about life changes. Specifically mine lol. All of my buddies here at TNG have heard me wax poetic about the upcoming school year. When not one, not two, but all three of my kids are going. Woohoo! Well today’s the day.
I had great plans for the first day of school. I was going to drive by and toss them out the car door merrily waving good bye. *scratching my head* Didn’t quite happen that way. My oldest will be fine. She’s brilliant and popular and her teacher (who just happens to be the Superintendent’s wife) is psyched to have her. My second will probably be fine. She got a teacher we really didn’t want to get, but she’s sweet and smart and popular and the school really is afraid of me so I can get her out of there if I have to lol. But my baby starts Kindergarten today and he looked a little shell shocked when I left him. Actually as excited as I have been about sending them all to school, I’m really surprised at how upset I am about sending my baby to school.
I was planning on working out a writing/promo schedule and finally getting caught up on emails, but it’s not going to happen. So I am taking the day off to pout and whine. Heck, even the dog is mopey and you’d think he’d be relieved not to be the favorite kid torture target.
Question for all the visitors whose second names are Mom…has your baby started school yet? How did you take it? Rejoice or drown your sorrows in chocolate? If you haven’t sent your youngest (or any) to school yet, how do you think you’re going to take it?
Since I seem incapable of not doing some promo, I’ll pick a name from the comments for a free copy of tomorrow’s release, Bad Moon Rising.

My young’un is still in diapers though I’m sure I’ll be a blithering mess when I drop him off that first day at kindergarten.

Well, I’m not a mom but my niece started school this week and when my hubby called to talk to her about how she liked it she said, “It was good. I gotta go,” and hung up.
So much for that heart-rending moment.

*sigh* Oldest goes back in three weeks. Middleson two weeks after that. (they have Kindergarten kids start later so the ‘older kids’ are into their routine and it isn’t so intimidating. *snirk* 800 kids teeming around one building, how is that NOT going to be intimidating?
*sigh* Anyway. I’ll be hoarding a pint of ice cream that day. Well, sharing it with baby-boy who still has two years home with mom.
Thanks Lori…now I’m depressed too!

Oh I feel for you. I sent my first to school last year and didn’t fair too well either. A) because he rides a bus and I never did and B) the bus stairs were so huge it made him look teenie tiny! If my husband wasn’t there I probably would have hauled him back into the house LOL.

My baby went to daycare last Monday…so that’s just as bad. I wanted to make sure he was acclimated before I went back to work this week. It was hard not being around him all day when I’ve had him all to myself for the last 3 months.

Ooooh. I don’t want Emma to ever go to school! This just sound heart wrenching. Maybe that’s the REAL reason kids are home schooled. LOL.

I can imagine Mia being both excited and upset. She is such a quiet shy little thing around people she doesn’t know. She has her dad written all over her (personality wise) But, it’ll be andrew’s job to see them off to school. I think I’d be a blubbering mess.

They’re both going to be in school–Dell in kindergarten and Paul in preschool. Paul is only going three days a week so I don’t think it will really hit me until next year. Then Paul will be in kindergarten.
It’s tough. I’m looking forward to a little peace and quiet, but I’ll miss my “babies”.
